He possesses a unique blend of experience in the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. His core expertise includes multi-step organic synthesis, parallel and combinatorial synthesis, homogeneous and asymmetric catalysis, methodology development and synthesis of bio-active small molecules of medicinal importance guided by Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR).

Born in Kolkata, India, Dr. Das completed his Bachelor’s degree with honors in Chemistry from the University of Calcutta in 2013. He went on to earn his Master's degree in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in 2015.

Dr. Das obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India, in 2020 under the guidance of Dr. A. T. Biju. During his Ph.D. (2015-2020), Dr. Das conducted extensive research on organocatalysis and asymmetric synthesis to further understand the underlying mechanisms and potential applications in the synthesis of biologically relevant complex heterocycles and carbocycles.

In October 2020, Dr. Das moved to the United States to join Prof. László Kürti's group at Rice University in Houston, Texas, as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. During his stay at Rice University, Dr. Das established several green innovative synthetic platforms for the efficient synthesis of complex heterocycles and functional molecules with medicinal significance.

In January 2023, Dr. Das joined the medicinal chemistry team at Calibr, Scripps Research in La Jolla, California, where he led the chemistry efforts in designing and synthesizing preclinical candidates for various drug discovery pipelines targeting diverse diseases areas, including SARS-CoV-2, various CNS disorders, and small molecule vaccine adjuvants.

Dr. Das has a proven track record of synthetic chemistry problem-solving, mentoring budding chemists, and working in collaboration with cross-functional teams, CROs and industrial partners. He has authored a dozen articles in reputed international journals, including a book chapter and a review article. He is also a reviewer in several international science journals. In March 2024, Dr. Das joined Oklahoma State University's National Center for Wellness and Recovery (NCWR) as a Senior Research Investigator, with the goal of advancing the development of novel treatments for pain and addiction.
